Bugs & Other Insects Control Services
Homes and businesses across Ontario occasionally encounter unusual bugs that don’t fall into typical pest categories — but that doesn’t mean they’re harmless. Whether it's a fast-moving firebrat in the attic, a ground beetle wandering across the floor, or an odd snouted weevil near your windowsill, these insects can be unsettling and even damaging in large numbers. PESTWISE offers targeted inspection and control for these lesser-known invaders. We identify the source, block entry points, and apply low-toxicity treatments to ensure your space stays bug-free — no matter what type crawls in.

Masked Hunter (Assassin Bug)
Dark, fast-moving bug with a flat body and narrow head. Found in old buildings, under baseboards, or near cluttered areas where insects hide. May bite when provoked. Control includes vacuuming, sealing cracks, and perimeter spraying around foundation and baseboards.

Ground Beetle
Large, black or metallic beetles often seen crawling across floors or entering from outside. Harmless but intimidating due to size and quick movement. Attracted to outdoor lighting. Control involves sealing entry points and applying foundation barrier treatments to stop migration.

Firebrat
A heat-loving cousin of the silverfish. Fast, greyish insect with dark spots and long antennae. Common in boiler rooms, attics, or near hot water pipes. Control includes glue traps, dusting behind baseboards, and reducing clutter in warm zones.

Leaf-Footed Bug
Brown to grey bug with widened hind legs that resemble leaves. Sometimes confused with stink bugs. Enters through windows or garden doors in late summer. Control usually involves physical removal or exclusion; rarely needs chemical treatment unless infestation persists.

Non-Food Weevils
Small beetles with a distinct snout, often found near windowsills or wooden furniture. These do not feed on grains but may come from indoor plants or wood. Removal involves locating and eliminating the source (e.g., firewood, potted plants) and treating the area.

Other Beetles (Carpet, Soldier, Dermestid)
Occasionally, beetles that feed on fabric, insect remains, or plants will appear inside. Most are solitary intruders. If persistent, identify attractants (e.g., dead insects, pet hair) and vacuum thoroughly. Light crack-and-crevice treatment may be applied if sightings increase.
